Welcome to Crazy Happy Love
delightfully cheerful wedding photography
Crazy Happy Love photography is all about capturing your wedding day as it happens. The little details and moments which make it special. The things you might miss as you’re too busy having the time of your lives.
I’m Carrie and I’m an alternative wedding photographer based in Belfast. Shooting in a relaxed, documentary style to capture creative images with colour and emotion. I want to get you photos which show the big moments and little details. And let’s not forget the epic dance floor moves your uncle bob threw which you will look back on for years to come and smile. No cheesy poses or disappearing for three hours to get a photo up a mountain.
Whether your day is a tiny intimate ceremony or a larger affair, photos are so important. But so are celebrating and champagne! I work quickly to make sure you get the most possible time to celebrate with your family and friends. Shooting in a documentary style means lots of images without lots of time away.
Hi I'm Carrie
Thanks for checking out Crazy Happy Love!
My photography career started shooting gigs and musicians 2 decades ago when I was still studying photography at college. I first fell in love with photography when I was in school. I always loved art and photography was a new way to create. It also served as a way to get out of maths class by hiding in the darkroom because nobody ever checked there. Needless to say I am still terrible at maths but the photography worked out ok so it’s all good!!
After a brief phase photographing old buildings and street art like all art students do, I quickly realised that I LOVED working with people. What better way to meet lots of amazing new people than through photographing their happiest moments. Weddings, engagements and family events – all the big occasions. In my career I’ve shot everyone from Taylor Swift to ACDC, and even the Queen one time in Bushmills so I’m well versed in portraits. Weddings however, are a really special chance to photograph images people will treasure for years to come (and your ears ring less afterwards!)
So What makes an alternative wedding photographer?
If I had to describe my style I’d say it was relaxed, honest and fun. I’m very much an alternative wedding photographer – no cheesy poses and hours standing in front of a camera. My plan is to have you smiling and laughing during your photo shoot because photos should be fun. I focus on capturing moments rather than poses but don’t worry, I’ll always give a little direction when needed to make sure you look your best. Everyone tells me they hate being photographed but I promise I’ll make it fun and relaxed.
I have spent a lot of my career shooting musicians so have learnt to get great portraits without spending forever at it, often working in low light. Wedding venues are a dream to shoot in after dressing rooms!
When I’m not behind a camera I’m listening to music, hanging out with my cats and my little girl. i love great food, nice wine and am a vegan so if you’re looking a leather album you won’t find it here I’m afraid. i offer gorgeous linen and tweed ones instead! My hair is bright red so I’m easy to spot for a photo op and I am a total people person!
We’re planning something unusual…
Every wedding is unique and I love hearing about your plans and capturing the details of the day. I’ve been lucky enough to shoot so many different types of wedding. Traditional ceremonies, civil partnerships, humanist weddings, Indian and Chinese weddings and even pagan ceremonies – I LOVE them all. It’s such an honour to be a part of the day and tell the story of it for you.
Two brides or two grooms…
As photographer at a lot of gay weddings and love the fact tradition is thrown out the window and I get to be really creative with my shots. Northern Ireland’s government may not have granted marriage equality but we all know they’re idiots so let’s never let that ruin your day.
I always like to meet couples during their planning. It’s so important to chat about your plans and get to know a bit about each other. You need a rapport to get the best shots. You can find out so much over a hot cuppa and it gives me a chance to show you sample albums. Hearing your ideas lets me discover what you really want out of your wedding photography. Have a look through the site to see the style of my work and get some inspiration. If you like what you see please do get in touch to have a proper chat about your big day.
