Carley & Julie-anne’s Colourful City Centre Urban street art wedding
Sort of an elopement
I’ve known Carley and Julie-anne for years through the Belfast Music Scene. I can honestly say they are two absolute legends. I was beyond chuffed when they asked me to come along and photograph their wedding. It’s always important to find a photographer you get on with. Firstly one who can put you at ease and secondly, one who can make you laugh and relax. An LGBT friendly wedding photographer can be a little tricky in NI, so I think it’s even more important for LGBT+ couples, And now we finally have equal marriage status NI has finally recognised what we all thought for years anyway!!
After over a decade together this pair of rockers decided to tie the knot at Belfast City Hall. It was an intimate ceremony with a few friends and family, so sort of an elopement! But don’t worry they threw one hell of a party later that night at the Treehouse.
There wasn’t a big break between their ceremony and meeting everyone else so we went for a first look photo session around the Belfast street art. As a city we have some phenomenal street art by the likes of Dan Kitchener and Friz so I always love when couples suggest an urban shoot. It’s a fab alternative to trees and fields (though I love those too! Basically if theres nice light and smiling couples I’m on it!) I actually got my own wedding photos alongside one of Dan’s tokyo streets murals. We had a wander around for an hour getting lots of shots then headed to the city hall.
Originally the girls weren’t even going to make an entrance but we persuaded them to make the most of it so they walked up the aisle to the Pretenders (and many tears) Intimate ceremonies are always really beautiful as everyone gets lost in the emotions, but their furry child Benji wasn’t able to get in so we met him after for some pics! He totally tried to steal the show.
Here are some of their photos from the day – I can’t help but smile they look so happy and loved up!
So two brides or two grooms?? If you’re looking for an LGBT friendly wedding photographer (who will totally make you laugh your asses off!) get in touch!!
